Hey Couped,

Did you ever notice that some (most) of the posts on this board are just you and me going back and forth to each other? What will it take for others to jump in? I noticed there were 45 visitors to the forum today (2/29), seven of which were registered members. How are we going to get those 38 non-member visitors to join and post?

I am one of those that stop by without posting. Since I haven't yet dove in NJ I don't have much to say.

I"m waiting for Easter when I go to Florida with my son for a week of diving.

cgvmer,

Thanks for posting. I'm happy to hear from you anyway, even though you haven't been diving NJ. Do you have any suggestions for the forum that would help its browsing non-members to join or members to be more active? I'm up for anything (wet t-shirt contests, car giveaways, free Hawaii vacation, $1,000 per week for life, etc...).

What kind of diving do you do? Have you ever dove in NJ, or are you a warm water diver? (not that there's anything at all wrong with that). How old is your son? My 14 year old son got certified when he was 12, but has only dove 4-6 times since then, mainly in Dutch. I want to get him acclimated to NJ diving, but he is resistant to even being a bubble watcher on the NJ boats. He went once on the Blue Fathom, and fished while we dove. He had a blast, but hasn't wanted to go back :(

Again, thanks for posting.

Mike

It's hard to say what would motivate people to participate more. I'll take that 1000 a week for life though....LOL

Seriously, like cgvmer I have yet to dive in Jersey. I was always a fair weather diver myself mostly Fla. diving, spearfishing, and lobstering. My Interest in diving here at home came when I ran into njscuba.net and read about all the wrecks and saw some pics. Then I seen a pic of a seriously big lobster caught on one of those wrecks. That did it for me, plus the fact that in more than one occasion I had people say to me "OH you're from Jersey, if you can dive there you can dive anywhere".

I guess the reason I post and participate here and at WV is because this IS something new. Different conditions like viz and temp which in turn make you need different gear and gear configurations that I was not familiar with. So I like to stop in read and ask questions. I've learned a great deal so far and met good people that have always been more than willing to help me out.
