Body of diver pulled from beneath water near Barnegat by The Star-Ledger Continuous News Desk Sunday May 17, 2009, 7:07 AM
The crew of a fishing boat recovered the body of a 42-year-old man who was found 30 miles east of Barnegat in Ocean County, after he had been diving there, the Coast Guard said.
The man, Gene Wite, of Middleton, Del., was found unconscious 125 feet below water around 2:15 p.m., and was pulled aboard the Tuna Seizure, according to the Coast Guard.
Members of the boat crew tried to resuscitate Wite, but were unsuccessful. It was not known what he was doing diving there.
