I was wondering whats the difference between Split Fins and single blade?
Is one really better then the other. I have been looking at various reviews and from what i am reading and seeing The Atomic Smoke Fin has got the better of all the reviews. i was actually going to get a Single fin i liked those little better by looking at them Just struck me as being more efficient but by tests it seems i may have been wrong.

Steve,
Fins like most other gear is a matter of preference. I have the scuba-pro twin jet split fins and have no real issues with them. They are sturdy and well made and good enough for Jersey diving but also good for diving in the Florida Keys. If you ever go on a group dive you will see that there will be a good variety of fins amongst the group. Most LDS (local dive shops) will have their preferences. Old School wreck divers will usually dive with the Classic Jet Fins. They are heavy and virtually indestructible. If you are in the diving game long enough you will have "like me" a good collection of fins and other gear. I must have like 6 or 7 pairs..hahaha It becomes an addiction..haha

I like my split fins, Scuba-pro makes a good product. I also own a pair of the Classic jet fins which I also like. I've seen the Atomic fins and although they get good reviews, I find them to be a little narrow for me. I do own 2 of the Atomic masks, they are excellent.

I think one of the reasons we divers have rubbermaid containers full of extra masks, fins, regs, etc., is that we try different things until we find what works for us. Usually starting with the less expensive and moving on up to the more expensive.

What I did was, I started buying gear little by little on the conservative side. What ever I didn't have I rented. Renting allowed me to try different gear without having to commit. After logging a certain number of dives or reaching a pre-determined goal, I bought something I needed or just wanted. I hope this helps. Most of all just have fun and dive safe.
