Hey Mike, I'll be needing a little dry suit training before I go and get on one of these boats this year. What do you think, should I go and take a formal class? Or do you think maybe a day at Dutch could get me up to speed. I don't think the class could hurt but I just don't see the difficulty. I could be mistaken though let me know what you think maybe we could meet up at Dutch in early May.

Jay,

I know many people who would tell you that you need a drysuit class in order to be proficient in using a drysuit. This question is one that has been argued back and forth. My suggestion is to meet me at Dutch in May, give it a day doing some training, and then see how you feel. I'm not an instructor, and know that an instructor could give you pointers and such that I may miss, but as long as you have a level head and common sense, you should be fine with a day of training. I'm up for meeting you at Dutch midweek.

Sounds like a plan. I'm finishing up at the base in about 2 weeks so I'll be on a regular schedule again. I'll take a day off mid week meet you down there. I'll look at the calendar and see what works.

Hey Jay, I never had any formal drysuit training either. Just make sure your buddies pay attention to you and beging your dive at the platform. I did not find the change from wet to dry difficult at all. Just know what to do when and if your feet go above your head.

From what I understand, if your feet start to go above your head you are supposed to kick like hell...LOL Not too sure about that though. I would imagine that I would wear my suit a little tight in the beginning. Just enough air so I don't suffocate..hahaha Hopefully there will be a few people there to give me some pointers.

I'll need to figure out how much weight I'll need with the different gear. I'm sure I'll have to bring extra.

I apologize in advance for silting up the whole quarry.hahaha

Leave it to cheryl to stir up the silt!

Once the quarry filled with water it became a lake.

Call it what you will but it is a lake.
