Shore Diving Course For the purpose of promoting safe and fun local shore diving, The Pt Pleasant First Aid Dive Team will conduct a shore diving course for open water certified divers starting June 14, 2008 at the First Aid Squad Building in Pt Pleasant, New Jersey.
The proceeds of the program will be donated to the Pt Pleasant First Aid Squad. Divers will be given an entire program consisting of: Lecture describing shore diving opportunities, entry and exit skills, navigation, equipment use, environment, dive planning, and possible hazards 4 local dives of different character including briefing and debriefing: river, inlet, ocean, and possibly a night dive. 1st day barbecue with staff and students Opportunity for NAUI specialty certification as "Shore Diver" The 1st class will meet on June 14th at 1PM at the 1st Aid Squad on Laurel Ave, Pt Pleasant.
It will consist of lecture followed by a high tide dive and barbecue afterward. Diving will continue for 3 weekends according to prevailing conditions. Students will be responsible for their personal gear which should include a complete scuba outfit including dive flag, float, and line. Limited rental gear may be available. Cost of the course will be $239 which includes a copy of "Top 40 Shore Dives In New Jersey". For those who already have a copy of the book, the cost will be $219.
Those who successfully complete the course will receive a NAUI Shore Diver specialty certification. The course will be limited to 8 divers. Registration is on a first served basis and should be done at the 1st Aid Building in Pt Pleasant or with one of the course instructors by appointment. Students who wish to only attend the lecture portion can do so at a cost of $80. Course instructors will be:
