Today I lost my wedding band. I was anchored in 12 feet of water in Mantaloking, New Jersey. I marked the location by gps and dropped a bunch of large wrenches over the exact same location that my ring feel into the water. Is there any chance of recovery for the ring?

You "lost" your wedding band? Nice job. Was it intentional? Come on.....

Actually, it is possible to recover just about anything. I've found lots of stuff (some by accident). I'm assuming you are a diver, so all it will take is your time and effort. Make sure you have a strong quality light, and hope the bottom is not too silty. A sandy bottom would be ideal, so hope for the best. As long as visibility is at least a foot ot two, you should be find. I wish you the best of luck.

If by chance you are not a diver, simply find a pal who is a diver, be really really nice to him/her, and offer a lobster or two (all divers love lobster).

Good luck, and welcome to the njdive.com forum!

Mike

Amazing how many times we find rings in the water and it's hard to believe that all of them were lost by accident. Many times while diving for artifacts, bottles, coins, etc under bridges you come along rings that ended up there somehow. I have never worn a ring and it's hard to believe they can just fall off but it would be interesting to know the actual percentage...

I am not a diver. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to getting some assistance.

Oh, sorry. Thats quite a haul for me, since I live near PA. I would recommend contacting a local dive shop nearby where you lost the ring and see if there is anyone who would like to to a search & recovery dive. If the area you lost it is a decent shore dive, you may find that divers already go there, and all it may take would be asking them if you see them diving the area.

I wish I could give you more advice, but thats all I got. Anyone else have any ideas???

A friend of mine builds bridges for a living. He had his divers go to the site and retrieve the ring.
