I dove the Avon side of the Shark River Inlet on Wednesday night with a group from Dosil's. Viz. was pretty good and the water was clear. We went in under the bridge right at 8:00 pm, and high tide was 8:12. I guess a few minutes earlier would have been prudent, but it is what it is. After splashing, the tide took us west and we dropped to the sand. It was nice and clear with 20' viz. I was instructed to get starfish and shells for my kids. As I was swimming behind the four other divers in my group, I noticed a soaking wet but still perfectly good $5 bill laying on the sandy bottom. The other divers went right over it. I've never found something as valuable as this in all my years of diving! After 22 minutes, and finally realizing that we were pushing against the now eastward flowing current, we turned around and let the tide take us back to the exit point, where my wife was waiting for me.

I used the $5.00 for a fill at Dutch the next day for my rinse dive.

$5 dollar bill..that's not a bad find at all Mike. Can't imagine what other things are laying in the sand.

NICE!!! Always check the sea weed masses that come drifting by, cause the bills like to hide in with the seaweed. Over the years I have some good finds in the seaweed.
